Lin Gao
#982055 Moto Talky Talkie
&
#992893 Beijing Advanced Speakers Club

During the elections at the 2007 Spring Conference Lin, who was representing the Moto Talky Talkie club as their President was overheard to say to a potential Division Governor candidate, "If you do this for the District, I will be there to support you."  It has been this  willingness to be there to help that has been the hallmark of Lin's dedication to Toastmasters clubs and the district since she joined the China Capital Toastmasters (#887575) club in 2006.  Lin has continually helped and assisted members, club officers and district officers in Beijing and other areas of China through her actions and efforts.  It was in this spirit that Lin agreed to serve as an Area Governor (Area 15) in Division N during the 2007-2008 year.

As a leader in the Motorola organization, Lin leveraged her participation in their Women's Business Council to help the development of Toastmasters Clubs.  At the current time there are three corporate clubs in Motorola location in Beijing and Tianjin and at least two more are in development in Shanghai and Hangzhou.  Through Lin's efforts and stewardship, Motorola has become the largest corporate club supporter in China.  Lin has taken time from her busy work schedule to visit each of the Motorola clubs and to arrange demonstration meetings for prospective clubs.  Lin has also assisted the district leaders by working with the leaders of the Motorola clubs (some were in her area and others were not) and the potential clubs in helping their clubs to become stronger.  In part due to her assistance, the Hello Moto Club (#1089563) is looking at the potential to split the club into a second corporate club at their Wangjing office in Beijing because they have attracted so many new members since chartering in September 2007.

Aside from her help with developing clubs for Motorola, Lin has continually been supportive of other officers and leaders in Division N and elsewhere in China.  Lin has helped in the planning and execution of many demonstration meetings for potential clubs in the Beijing area and been of assistance to other Area Governors by arranging places for them to hold their speech contests.  Lin also arranged free training facilities through Motorola for the Summer and Winter Officer training, Fall and Spring Division Speech Contests, as well as assisting her second club, Beijing Advanced Speakers (#992893) in securing meeting locations for several of their recent meetings.

Lin was also very involved in the planning and execution of the 2007 Fall Conference in Beijing as a member of the Handbook, Publicity and On-the-Day teams as well as being one of the speakers at the conference.  On the night before the conference Lin noticed a misspelling on the backdrop for the stage and stayed up late working with the vendor to ensure that a corrected backdrop would be on the stage the following morning when the doors open.  This attention to details has made Lin a sought after leader to visit clubs and help their young officers and members to enhance their club and make it a stronger and more enjoyable club for their members and guests.

It is for her dedication to our organization, its clubs and members that Lin has earned this recognition as the 2007-2008 District 85P Toastmaster of the Year.
