"Share Our Passion"
A Message from our District Governor

Regardless of what Toastmaster Club you visit in China, you will be struck with the passion the members bring to everything they do in their club.  Toastmasters in China are passionate -- passionate about improving their communication and leadership skills; passionate about helping other members; and passionate about sharing what they have learned in their clubs with other -- sometimes as mentors and sometimes by helping to build new clubs.  When you visit clubs in China you too will share our passion.

This is the reason that we have selected as our 2007-2008 District 85(P) theme - "Share Our Passion".  Toastmasters in China are exciting people to be near -- as their enthusiasm for learning and developing is contagious.  By becoming a member in a local club, or building a club in your community or business, you will begin to share the passions that our members and clubs through China experience at all of their meetings.

It has been my extreme pleasure to have been a small part of the teams that have helped Toastmaster programs to grow and develop in China.  In just a few short years the programs in China have grown from three clubs (separated by over 1000 kilometers) to those we now have in the district -- and we have not stopped yet.  Our officers and members have set a goal to further expand the network of clubs so that more people can grow and develop their skills through the Toastmaster programs.  How many clubs will be built this year remains to be seen, but I would not be at all surprised to see the number of clubs nearly double by June.

If you are a Toastmaster currently, or are thinking about becoming a Toastmaster in the future, please contact one of our clubs, Area or Division Governors or any of our District Officers should you need information or assistance.  Our officers are here to help our members and clubs achieve their goals and in the process to allow our district to achieve its goals for growth and educational goals.  We are here to help you achieve your goals within Toastmasters.

Sincerely,

Keith E. Ostergard, DTM
