FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

District 85 P 2007-2008 Club/Area/Division Alignment

June 15, 2007 -- Beijing China

Since the first Toastmasters club's chartered and began meeting in 1999, there has been significant growth in the number of clubs active within the People's Republic of China.  In particular, the growth during the past Toastmaster Year (July 1, 2006 - June 30, 2007) has seen amazing growth in the number of clubs actively engaged in helping their members achieve their individual goals.  This growth was led by the officers and leaders of the Territorial Council of China, which began administration of the clubs last July under the leadership of TC Chairman Warwick John Fahy, DTM.  Due to the amount of growth in the number of active Toastmasters Clubs in the Territorial Council of China, the Board of Directors for Toastmasters International passed a resolution to move the Territorial Council into Provisional District status effective July 1, 2007 with the district designation of District 85 (P) - People's Republic of China.

To ensure that all clubs and regions within the district are able to receive the assistance and guidance necessary for their growth and development, the 2007-2008 Executive Leaders of the district into fourteen (14) Areas with each containing at least three clubs.  These areas will be organized into three (3) Divisions based upon geographical regions within China; these Divisions will be designated by letters (E for East; N for North; and, S for South) and areas will all be designated by their Division letter and a two digit number (for example E21 will be an area in the East Division).
