FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE District Governor's Message to the Members of District 85PToday's Date -- July 1, 2007 July 1, 2007
Dear Members of District 85, 亲爱的第85准行政区的会员, Do you have a
vision of the success for you, your club and its members in this our first
year as a district? Do you know how you, your club and its members will
achieve these goals? What about our district, what goals should we set for
ourselves? At the beginning
of every Toastmaster Year (July 1 June 30) clubs around the world look at
how they can help their members to achieve their goals. One of the best
ways is to use the Distinguished Club plan as a benchmark on how your club
can assist its members; as the goals in this program have been developed by
Toastmasters International to help a club target different goals that will
allow its members to achieve their individual goals. I encourage all clubs
to achieve Distinguished, Select Distinguished or even Presidents
Distinguished Club by next June 30 if you do you will have helped many of
your members in achieving their individual goals. Clubs around the world
achieve this success in the same way by the officers helping the members
to achieve their goals. Set your goals high the higher the better as in
working to achieve them, you will find success in the process. Last year as a
district we set a lofty goal to achieve provisional district status in
only a year. When Chairman Warwick John Fahy first said this many people
thought that it could not be done I was one of them and I was very wrong.
Through his vision and passion Warwick was able to make his leadership team
see the way to achieve this goal. This was achieved and the TI Board of
Directors will be honoring Chairman Warwick John Fahy with a Presidential
Citation one of the highest awards that Toastmasters gives to an
individual member for his vision and leadership of our clubs. Recognition
that is indeed well deserved. So what is our
goal this year as a district? Our goals will be built upon the goals that
are set by Toastmasters for the clubs and the areas if they succeed, our
district will succeed. How far will this take us? If the clubs and areas
achieve their goals, the district will be able to achieve the goals set by
Toastmasters International for the year. But this is not enough; we should
take the district to the success that passion and commitment exhibited by
the members and clubs across China naturally deserve to end the year with
enough clubs to become a full district and be recognized the best district
in world! Is this goal too
big no, it actually is small. We can achieve this goal easily during the
year by meeting the needs of our members and their clubs and having half of
the clubs end the year as Distinguished or better. However, this is not
enough I would like every club to end the year Distinguished or better
if you do, just think how much more passionate your club and its members
will become. Our leadership team is committed to helping you achieve this
and will assist you in helping your members during the course of the year. Heres to your
vision aim high and achieve success within each and every club and its
members.
Sincerely, Keith Ostergard, DTM
