FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2008-2009 District Officer ElectionsToday's Date -- December 15, 2007
Dear Members of District 85P, An important part of Toastmasters training is learning about leadership. And the best way to become skilled at leadership is to experience it. Because of this, the electoral process is the heart of the district calendar. Choosing leaders or choosing to be a leader begins here…at nomination process. I am pleased to announce that our district will begin the nomination process for the 2008-2009 District Officers that will be elected at the Spring Conference in Shanghai this coming May. The offices that will be elected are District Governor, Lt. Governor of Education and Training, Lt. Governor of Marketing and Division Governor (currently there will be three; however this might expand to four depending upon decisions of the Alignment Committee). The following is a timeline of the election process for the 2008-2009 District Officer Positions:
If you are interested in becoming one of the leaders of our district in the coming year, and are qualified to serve the members of District 85P, I ask you to complete the Officer Nomination Form and Officer Agreement and Release Form and submit them to District Nominating Committee Chairman, Immediate Past Territorial Council Chairman Warwick John Fahy before the deadline for nomination of midnight, February 1, 2008. All applications received after that date will be rejected by the committee. The Committee will select up to two qualified candidates per office to recommend for the ballot at the elections. Interested and qualified members that were not selected by the committee can choose to run as floor candidates at the time of the election. It is my hope that we will have a spirited election process as we move into the coming Toastmaster Year – while we have already accomplished much as a district, the year ahead will be one with continuing challenges for the leaders you select. Remember – the future of the district is in your hands, so why not take part in shaping that future by serving the district as one of its elected officers.
Sincerely, Keith Ostergard, DTM |
